Questions, questions!

Open Question: Help with compound subjects and predicates!? I have a few sentences for homework out of my grammar workbook, but I cant figure out the answer. If you can, please help!!! Directions: Name the subject and the verb. Say CS if the subject is compound, CP if the predicate is compound, or B if both are compound. 1)Luis popped the popcorn but did not put butter on it. 2)The novels of John Steinbeck and the poetry of Maya Angelou inspire me to write. 3)Final exams and the SATs are the same week. 4)Both the bakery and the grocery bake and decorate birthday cakes. 5)My name, address, and social security number appear on the job application. 6)Community service projects keep me busy and give me self - esteem. Help!!!

Open Question: A Reliable Website about Maya Angelou's life? I'm doing a annotated bibliography and I need one more website. It needs to be: reliable, full of information, and if you can, have it to be about a specific time in her life. Thanks in advance.

Voting Question: In and Out of Time---Spanish Translation? Can someone help me translate this poem in spanish. I did NOT write this poem, it is written by the magnificent Maya Angelou n and Out of time The sun has come the mists have gone we see in the distance our long way home I was always yours to have you were always mine we have loved each other in and out of time When the first stone looked up at the blazing sun and the first tree struggled up from the forest floor I have always loved you more You freed your braids gave your hair to the breeze it hung like a hive of honey bees I reached in the mass for the sweet honeycomb there Hah God how I loved your hair You saw me bludgened by circumstance lost, injured, hurt by chance I screamed to the Heavens loudly screamed trying to change our nightmares into dreams The sun has come the mists have gone we see in the distance our long way home I was yours to have and you were always mine we loved each other in and out, in and out, in and out of time

Resolved Question: Can you give me character traits that you would associate with Maya Angelou in the caged bird sings? Voting Question: How to send a letter to Maya Angelou?

Voting Question: New Poetry Slam Ideas? I'm eclectic when it comes to poetry I love everything from Maya Angelou to Edgar Allen Poe to Derrick Brown. But I'm looking for something new and most importantly, really rhythmic. Any suggestions?

Resolved Question: Is there a Bible verse that is similar to this quote by Mala Angelou? "A woman should be so lost in God that a man needs to seek him in order to find her" -Maya Angelou I really like this quote, and totally agree. I was just wondering if there is a Bible verse that is similar to it. Please & Thank You!

Resolved Question: Is this sentence worded correctly? I can't use underline, so I'm going to us quotations marks. Please don't correct me for doing this. "I Know Why the Cage Bird Sings" is the autobiography of Maya Angelou. Is it worded correctly, and how can I word it any better? I don't like the way it sounds. This sentence is the introduction to a paragraph. My essay is about the book, not Maya. Sorry I didn't make that clear before. Make the sentence's subject about the book, please. (: Thanks! And yes, I meant Caged.

Resolved Question: Is there a website where I can talk to or ask celebrities questions? I really want to talk to Maya Angelou and ask her some questions about how she got where she got.

Resolved Question: need help with maya angelou quote? When I look back I am so impressed again with the life-giving power of literature. If I were a young person, today, trying to gain a sense of myself in the world, I would do that again by reading, just as I did when I was young. - Maya Angelou what does this mean?

Resolved Question: Need help with a love poem? Can anyone help me with writing a love poem with the same sort of theme as Maya Angelou? You can see what i mean if you read some of her love poems. :) http://www.creative-dating-ideas.com/love-poems-by-maya-angelou.html I don't want it to be a sappy love poem. I just need a little inspiration. (im not very good at writing poems and stuff like that.) This is for my English class, not for a person :)

Voting Question: What are some good poetry books for a 6th-12th grade classroom? In building my classroom library and working on several unit plans, I am requiring myself to obtain at least 30 (yep, thirty) different poetry books for my students. Some of them are no-brainers, but even the no-brainers can become tough to find the right copies of. For example, I will of course have a book with all of Shakespeare's sonnets, and should probably have some Maya Angelou, Edgar Allan Poe, Stephen Crane, and so on. But, mind you, these books are going into a middle/high school classroom; they'll be battered and even stolen, and I don't want to be replacing a handful of $20 books every other week (even if I can get someone else to pay for it). So: What are some good poetry books that are appropriate for a 6th-12th-grade classroom? Some things to consider: - LANGUAGE: While an occasional curse word among a couple hundred poems could be acceptable, I can't exactly take responsibility for exposing kids to rampant profanity (as much as I might like there to be more leniency toward this, it's out of my hands)....

Resolved Question: I know why the caged bird sings? Comprehension questions...? Maya Angelou I know why the caged bird sings... I don't get this ones in the packet can you guys help me out? Thank you... How does the author say she felt in later years about the stereotyped picture of gay song singing cotton pickers, and why? Describe the second incident with sister monroe and its effect on Marguerite and Bailey? Describe the living conditions for the Blacks and the Whites in Stamps. Why did Mama beat Marguerite and bailey? What happend to Bailey and Marguerite after the doctor said she was healed?

but a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing. the caged bird sings with a fearful trill of things unknown but longed for still and his tune is heard on the distant hill for the caged bird sings of freedom. i found it in an oprah magazine sitting in a drawer at work and jess had been talking about banana pudding. and we'd been talking about how even magnolia bakery makes it with jello pudding mix. so i thought i'd try to make it from scratch for my wife and our cute friends who let us enjoy their cable television on top chef night. levi learned a lot of new egg skills... custard and meringue. and actually i'm not sure i've made meringue since i was a kid helping my mom make lemon meringue pie.
